God has blessed us richly! We are growing!
We now have 45 children registered and our very first Kingsway rEcess family. We are blessed to have 47 very dedicated volunteers that are anxious to begin our third year. Shelley Neal and I travelled to Arkansas for the annual Engage Conference. We were both inspired and awed by God’s work in disability ministry in the United States. We learned a lot and were chosen to train any new rEcess sites in Ontario.
We assisted in getting the Burlington rEcess running and they are entering their second year serving. It is our belief and our passion to encourage Baptist churches throughout the GTA and beyond to pray about beginning a rEcess. We believe that this easily replicated model is a great way to show God’s love to the marginalized. The funding we received was used to attend the conference in Arkansas for further training training to enable us to take the next steps to spread this new and amazing ministry.
We are developing and empowering female leaders of all ages within our ministry. Our leadership team has grown from 2 to 10.
Our next step is to evolve rEcess from a once per month respite ministry to include an Adult with Disabilities Day Program (which will eventually include an early onset Alzheimer’s component), an after school program for children of all abilities doing art together and eventually these programs will overlap into a multigenerational disability ministry.
Our vision is to see all parts of the body of Christ working and serving together. Additional funding is required to begin the process of incorporation and auditing financials to enable eligibility for applying for larger provincial grants. We are so grateful for your seed funding of rEcess and cannot wait to see God’s next steps for us.
Yours in Christ
